about . . . Synergy Swimming

   As simple as it may sound, our organization is dedicated to instructing swimmers to understand what they are doing while swimming. We emphasize that our swimmers should always have an awareness of their bodies' balance in the water and an awareness of how the application of force either propels their body through the water or contributes to drag. 

    What started out as an effort to understand scientifically how to improve our own stroke, quickly evolved into helping friends and triathletes understand our discoveries, and incorporate technique changes.

   We have worked with uncounted numbers of swimmers over the last twenty years, and seen dramatic improvements for many of them.

   Although drills might be helpful to some students, we have overwhelmingly found that once the student becomes aware of their balance and how the application of force affects propulsion and drag, the majority of students make stunning progress.
